Definition
A product launch platform is a website where products launch on a specific day and are ranked against the other launches of that day or week — by votes, comments or editorial choice. Product Hunt is the reference; TinyLaunch and Uneed run weekly or daily variants. The launch is an event with a start time and a time zone, and the platform usually enforces rules about self-promotion, vote solicitation and repeated launches.
The permanent product page is a by-product of the event. That is what distinguishes the platform from a plain launch directory, which is a list first.
Why it matters for a directory launch
Launch platforms bring the most attention in the shortest window and the strictest rules. A scheduled launch is a date, not a publication; a date confirmed by the platform can still wait for approval. Preparing one badly — wrong time zone, missing assets, asking friends for upvotes against the rules — costs the one launch slot you have.
How LaunchRepo handles it
The Product Hunt, TinyLaunch and Uneed playbooks describe the observed launch flows, including scheduling screens and upsell dialogs to decline. The tracker records a confirmed date as scheduled only when it is on or after your earliest launch date and keeps outstanding approval in the note. Vote solicitation and invented testimonials are explicitly out of scope for the agent.
