Definition
A live listing is a directory page for your product that a stranger can open — no login, no “pending approval” label, no preview mode — with a working link to your product. It is the only state in a launch that a third party can check.
A thank-you screen is not a live listing. Neither is a page that loads but says pending, nor a confirmed date whose day has passed without anyone looking.
Why it matters for a directory launch
Live is the number people quote — and the one most often inflated. If a report says forty and six are actually findable, the report is not wrong by accident; it counted submissions. The distinction also drives follow-up: a live listing is left alone, a pending one is rechecked, a scheduled one is verified on its date.
How LaunchRepo handles it
record.py accepts live and already_listed only with the public URL and an explicit confirmed-public flag; the agent has to open the page logged-out and see no pending label. The SaaSHub field guide documents the counter-example: a reachable product page still labelled “Pending approval”, kept as submitted until the label disappeared. Follow-up dates in the dashboard trigger the recheck.
